WebAug 26, 2010 · The difference between the D 90 and a regular Strat pickup is they use steel screw poles with an Alnico bar magnet rather than Alnico slugs and they have a metal baseplate. This is why they don't sound like a Strat pickup. They have a sort of Strat mixed with a P90 sound. It's a nice sounding pickup but is not a true P90 tone.
